The FSC Controlled Wood® Standard enables manufacturers and traders to avoid unacceptable timber and timber products. The standard specifies that the company is to source product from manufacturers only using raw material from well managed production forest in accordance with the principals of sustained yield management, and to avoid trading in illegally harvested wood, wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights, wood harvested in forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activities, wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use and wood from forests including genetically modified trees.
